Will Google's Go Replace Java?

Wednesday, September 04, 2013:  Google as a tech behemoth isn’t one to take any finger pointing lying down. So the company which was accused of copying Oracle software is readying a comeback, which is a befitting reply. Google is understood to have created a programming language called Golang, or Go. This, say some tech analysts might just end up replacing Java altogether.
Java, Oracle, Google, Java competition, Google Go, programming Language, Iron.io, Cloud technology, Oracle, Language,

Java is a software owned by Oracle. It was developed 20 years ago at Sun Microsystems and has since become an extremely popular language. However, Java hasn’t been free of trouble given the fact that Oracle seems to take too long to bring out new Java development tools.

Despite the issues, no one really took Google too seriously until Internet startup Iron.io became the first company to use the new language in a big way. Iron.io offers a "messaging" cloud service for app developers, meaning its service helps apps talk to each other. It was built using Go.

Go started getting attention as Iron.io gained some powerful customers, like Career Builder and The Motley Fool. Go also got unprecedented backing from Iron.io whose cofounders have said that they are living proofs that Go is ready to be trusted as an alternative to other popular languages, like Ruby and, most especially Java. According to Iron.io cofounder and CTO Travis Reeder, Go has better “performance, memory usage, deployment ease, code quality. Java is an amazing language but it predates the cloud. It is much easier to build and deploy high performance applications in virtual environments in Go”.

He further says that the replacement would also remove a lot of connection to Oracle from companies in the cloud space and would ignite a whole new set of innovation based around Go libraries, frameworks, platforms and services.

Google Glass is a revolutionary invention and we all want to know how does it work. How does Google Glass Work? Here is the Answer!

Google Glass work

Pressy, an Android Button that brings button-based shortcuts for your phone

Ever since Steve Jobs announced the first ever iPhone which was fully touchscreen and had only one main button to control it all, everyone has been following on his footsteps. And why not? He was right about all those extra buttons taking up unnecessary space. And hence, the smartphones today do not really rely on many buttons. Everyone is so used to the idea of touchscreens that no one probably thought that there is a more easier and intuitive way of performing tasks then actually having to perform a number of actions before reaching to the final destination. We could actually use some kinda buttons to make it all easier. That’s what Pressy is all about. It saves all the extra Time and Effort.

Pressy2

now you must be wondering, how does Pressy save your time? How does it really work?
Pressy is a physical button that fits into your headphone jack. Now, with the help of Pressy’s free app you can set up different click-combination to perform different tasks. For example, if you have configured two clicks to take a picture in the app, you just have to click pressy twice and it will take a picture for you, without having to unlock your phone or without even looking at your screen. You can set up multiple actions for multiple purposes. For example, one short click to call your mom and two short clicks to send your location. Very Handy, I’d say!
Hey, but what about my headphones? I’m not giving those up!
Yes, that’s what I thought too. If Pressy connects with your headphone jack, then what about my headphones? Fortunately, the Pressy Team has taken care of that too. You can plug-in your headphones whenever you want! Just take off the Pressy button, plug your headphones in and now your headphone button will work as pressy.
These are the different actions that you could perform on the go using pressy:

Do we really need this button on our phones? Is It gonna Work?

As mentioned earlier, the smartphones today focus on having minimum buttons on them. So, is this idea really gonna work well? Well it has. People really think it will enhance their smartphone experience and make it little bit smoother. How do I know that?  The project pledged $40,000 on their Kickstarter Page, they have received around 10 times of what they pledged and there are still 43 days to go. and That’s how I know users are interested in it.
What do you think about this gadget? Comment below and let us know!

Easily Copy Files from One Cloud Service to Another

Copy Files Between Dropbox, Google Drive & SkyDrive

Mover.io is an online service that helps you easily transfer files and folders from one cloud storage service to another. The service works on a freemium model – you can transfer up to 10 GB of data for free and then pay $1 per extra GB of transfer.
Mover has connectors for all popular cloud storage providers. You may copy files from your Google Drive to Dropbox, from SkyDrive to Box or even from your old Google account to the new one. They also support FTP allowing you to directly transfer files from Google Drive or Dropbox to your FTP server, over the cloud.
There are no restrictions on individual file size limits (except for SkyDrive) and you may transfer unlimited number of files. Mover creates a mirror copy of your folders on the destination service but if a folder on the source drive has too many files, you have an option to zip them all in a single file before the transfer.- source digital inspiration .
