How to Close All Background iOS Apps at Once

When you double-tap the home button of your iPad or iPhone, the dock will show a list of all the recently used apps and some of them could still be running in the background.
You tap and hold your finger on the app icon until it begins to jiggle and you can then press the red “minus” sign to close one or more of these background apps. If a particular app is not running, this action will simply remove its listing from the multitasking bar.

Launch the app and then shake your iPhone / iPad to terminate every single app that could be running in the background. Alternatively, you can just pull and release the processes list (see video) to close all the background running apps at once.

Launch Chrome Apps Without Opening a New Tab

The latest version of Google Chrome browser lets you install web apps from the Chrome Web Store, some of which will even work in offline mode.

Now if you are to launch any of these web apps, you first have to open a new tab page (Ctrl+T) in Chrome and then click on the relevant app icon.

There’s however a more efficient option as well. Get the App Launcher extension and it will add a button to Chrome which upon clicking will show a list of all your installed apps. There’s no longer a need to open another tab for launching apps.

This is more like the Windows Start Menu – you’ve a list of installed programs accessible always no matter what program you’re currently working on except that you can’t search for apps here.

Every time you launch Chrome, or open a new tab in the browser, the extension works as a sobering reminder that the clock is ticking away. That may motivate you to exit the Bermuda productivity triangle and focus on the more important things.
